Microsoft released Surface with Windows RT in late October 2012. The pro version of Surface provides USB 3.0 support, a Secure Digital Extended Capacity (SDXD) expansion slot, a digital display interface called DisplayPort and twice the storage capacity of the RT version. The Surface Pro version comes with the full Windows 8 operating system and runs on an Intel Ivy Bridge processor.

The Windows RT version runs on an ARM processor, is available with 32 or 64 gigabytes of storage and comes with a lean version of Microsoft Office. Microsoft designed two versions of the tablet.

Surface tablets have a 10.6-inch wide touch screen display and come with USB support, dual Wi-Fi antennae, a built-in kickstand to make the tablet stand up by itself and an optional keyboard that doubles as the tablet’s cover. Surface is a line of tablet computers developed by Microsoft and sold under their brand.
